When I sell my car, I either HAVE to sell it, or WANT to sell it. If I HAVE to sell it, then the price is going to be lower unless I get lucky. If I just WANT to sell it, then I probably got offered a price that is high enough to make me WANT to sell it, or I have lost interest in the car and am just putting it ou tthere fishing for as high a price as possible over an extended period of time or a sucker to come along. When my car gets totalled, regardless of who was at fault, it was not my choice nor my plan to part with the car. Typically I want MY car back or as close to it. We all know that modified cars do not recoup $ spent on labor/parts, and we accept that to a certain extent when selling BY CHOICE. But when we are forced to take money for a car that we did not part with by choice, we want, and naturally so, to recoup as much as possible, if not all. That is what we pay the insurance company for (assuming you are covered by an agreed-value plan, which one should be doing when owning a Z32 as a recreational car, NOT as transportation). So there is no double standard here because you are talking about 2 completely different scenarios. Parting with a car by choice and having a car taken away from you.
"What a curiosity our new political correctness has made of our public spaces. Let your sex tape loose on the Internet and be rewarded with your own TV show; photograph a crucifix in a jar of urine and our museums will vie to exhibit it; occupy someone else’s property and you will be hailed by the president for your keen social conscience. But call people who blow up, behead and mutilate “savage” — and polite society will find you offensive." --Jared Silverman "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." --Winston Churchill "When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." --Benjamin Franklin "The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury." --George Washington END THE FED ....learn why, in 42 minutes Full Pardon for PFC Bradley Manning |
